Changes to international recognition titles
There have been some changes to the titles available through the Engineering Council and how these are awarded. The International Engineering Technician (IntETn) is now being awarded through the Engineering Council for the first time, and some aspects of the European Engineer (EUR ING) title has recently changed.

Talking Industry Live delivers successful interactive learning experience
Talking Industry LIVE in partnership with the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) took place on the 25 April and featured some of industry’s most renown and upcoming figures to offer visitors a unique professional learning experience. The event, which took place at the MTC, Coventry, provided an environment for delegates to learn about cutting edge technologies and best practice through unscripted panel discussions, presentations, live demos, and workshops.
Innovate UK launches £100m AI fund for UK businesses
Innovate UK, the UK’s national innovation agency, has unveiled BridgeAI, a new programme which aims to drive growth and competitiveness in the UK economy through the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The £100m investment comes partly from Innovate UK & the Technologies Mission Fund (TMF), launched by HMG/UKRI on 6 March 2023, and will bring together businesses from priority sectors with AI experts and developers, to foster an AI innovation network in the UK.

Former chair of Ford of Britain set to lead the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC)
The Coventry-based centre for advanced manufacturing technologies, the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) has appointed Dr Graham Hoare OBE to succeed Dr Clive Hickman OBE as its new CEO. Dr Hoare brings more than 35 years’ top-level industrial and commercial experience to the role.
