21 September, 2021

ASCO Norge AS has been awarded the contract as the preferred base supplier for INEOS Oil & Gas Norway’s first drilling operation on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Siem Offshore to retrofit compressed air system

01 September, 2021

Siem Offshore has contracted TMC Compressors (TMC) to supply a new marine compressed air system to be retrofitted onboard the JOIDES Resolution research vessel. Former drillship JOIDES Resolution is a research vessel that drills into the ocean floor to collect and study core samples.

Wireless vibration sensor for machine fault analysis

12 August, 2021

The Fluke 3563 Analysis Vibration Sensor combines a piezoelectric high-frequency sensor with advanced software analytics to enable maintenance teams to track and analyse asset vibration readings continuously. It enables the monitoring of an extensive portfolio of productioncritical assets.

Detect and localise leaks in Natural Gas Storage Installations

28 July, 2021

Natural Gas Storage Installations (NSGIs) are remote sites where large volumes of gas are stored. These facilities provide a back up gas reservoir to face consumption peaks due to seasonal variations, among other reasons. Uptime of NSGIs is critical and they need to be available 365 days a year. The maintenance team requires the ability to quickly and effectively scan large areas from a safe distance with the certainty of reliability and accuracy.

Next-generation portable dew point measurement

15 July, 2021

The new version of the S520 smart handheld dew point meter from Measure Monitor Control delivers high measurement speeds through its dual sensor design, integrated pressure sensor and smart features.

AHP Merkle launches electrohydraulic cylinder with its own built-in power supply

01 July, 2021

AHP Merkle cylinders are well-known in the mould and toolmaker industry for their high quality and reliability. However the cylinders are used in many other industries from special purpose machines to test rigs and machine tools.

Emerson solenoid valves enable more compact machine designs

24 June, 2021

Emerson has launched a range of twoway and three-way solenoid valves that support original equipment manufacturers’ (OEMs) need to develop more compact machines and equipment without compromising on fluid control performance. Emerson comments that the optimised body design and internal flow path of the new ASCO Series 256/356 not only provides a smaller footprint, but also reduced power consumption and increased pressure ratings critical in industrial and commercial applications.

Piezo-resistive pressure transducers from Variohm EuroSensor

04 June, 2021

As a designer and manufacturer of measurement sensor components and a distribution partner for other sensor suppliers, Variohm EuroSensor offers a wide range of pressure transducers that find widespread use for measurement and monitoring tasks in industrial machinery, medical equipment, science and research projects, automotive engineering and test and many other areas.

Detect and localise leaks in brake systems

21 May, 2021

To ensure safety on the tracks, the maintenance technicians pay special attention to the braking system. The centralised pneumatic brake system is used to keep pressure on the system continuously and to ensure the brake shoes remain open. As soon as the pressure drops, the brakes engage and start causing undesired friction on the axles. A tricky, tiny leak in the compressed air system can lead to system malfunctions, which activate the brakes. These errors must be corrected as soon as possible.

The digital transformation journey – don’t run before you can walk

23 February, 2021

January’s online Talking Industry panel discussion addressed issues surrounding digital data capture, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and better communication practices etc through deploying concepts and strategies related to the industrial network of things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0.

Remote commissioning of equipment allows installation during Covid-19

21 January, 2021

Normally the supply, installation and commissioning of a heat exchanger to sterilise food ingredients such as wort would be a relatively straightforward exercise, with HRS project engineers travelling from their bases in Spain or the UK to the client’s location. However, the travel and operation restrictions imposed globally by the Coronavirus pandemic earlier this year meant that a different approach was required for one HRS MI Series installation in the United States.

Acrovision chooses Micro-Epsilon thermal imaging camera fever screening system

15 December, 2020

Acrovision, a UK-based systems integrator of factory and warehouse automation, vision inspection systems and direct part marking and identification technologies, has chosen the thermoIMAGER TIM QVGA-HD-T100 thermal imaging camera from Micro-Epsilon as part of its infrared thermal detection system, the AFS-100. The system provides end users with a reliable, versatile, high accuracy fever screening system to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The thermal imaging camera was selected due to its high accuracy and ease of integration, set up and configuration.

Precision mixing contains costs for product development

10 December, 2020

A pre-pilot mixing plant is using wireless TorqSense transducers for ultra-accurate viscosity measurement of high-value compounds. The plant is used to prepare small batches of compounds from shampoo and detergent to cosmetics, therapeutic and medical preparations. Some of the ingredients in the compounds are very expensive, so product developers are loath to make large batches early in the formulation process.

Bürkert’s new mass flow controller for low volume achieves high accuracy with any liquid

03 December, 2020

A new mass flow controller/meter (MFC/M) is providing high precision and repeatability for small quantities of virtually any liquid. The Bürkert Type 8756 achieves accurate control or measurement, thanks to its Coriolis sensor, which enhances stability and removes the requirement for zero-point adjustment in changing process conditions.
