SMC raises the curtain on new, high precision digital pressure switch
SMC has unveiled a new 3-screen display, high precision digital pressure switch to give more information, more quickly.
Achieving greater profitability through training
The BFPA (British Fluid Power Association) has been actively involved in industry discussion and action regarding safety, best practice and profitability for decades. The organisation is also recognised for setting high standard in terms of training and education. This article showcases BFPA member Hydroscand’s participation in the courses and some of the benefits it has gained as a consequence.
Pooler-LMT appointed UK agent for Enerpac hydraulic gantries
Industrial lifting specialist Pooler-LMT has been appointed the UK Agent for Enerpac Integrated Solutions including their range of hydraulic gantries, selfpropelled modular trailers and hydraulic strand jacking systems. PoolerLMT joins a global network of Enerpac distributors, a selection of who are dedicated to the industrial heavy lifting sector.
Hydrotechnik UK delivers over 20 fluid power test rig projects during 2016
Hydrotechnik UK Ltd., based in Nottingham, has extended its experience in the design, development, manufacture and commissioning of fluid power test rigs for end of production sign off or component testing with over 20 projects delivered in 2016 alone.
Position measuring system now offers quicker set-up
Bosch Rexroth has further enhanced its IMS-A position measurement system with the introduction of a Drive-CLiQ* interface, enabling even more rapid set-up.
Lee restrictors keep the electricity on
During a recent refurbishment of the Allt na Lairige hydro-electric power station near Inverary in Scotland, the hydraulic control system was upgraded from the original low pressure system to a modern high pressure one.
Condition monitoring prevents unplanned water treatment plant downtime
The Perlenbach water supply association supplies fresh drinking water every day to around 50,000 residents across seven municipalities in the Eifel region of Germany. This equates to around 2.4 million cubic metres of water per year, which needs to be filtered and treated using complex methods.
No batteries or gears on improved contactless sensor
Now available from Variohm EuroSensor, Contelec’s recently launched Vert-X 37MT Hall Effect encoder combines a 16-bit single-turn angle resolution with 16-bit multi-turn count (65536 turns) for unconstrained position feedback.
CTI Suzhou relies on Moog for automotive component durability testing
Centre Testing International Corporation (CTI) Suzhou has successfully completed powertrain mount durability and radiator/cooling fan tests with a customised Hydraulic Simulation Table (HST) delivered by Moog.
Modular servo press kit delivers alternative to traditional press control systems
Festo, the supplier of automation equipment, now offers high-precision manufacturers of electronics or other small parts a lower cost, easy-to-use alternative to traditional press control systems.
The pneumatic-electrical dynamic in motion control
Representatives from the BFPA member companies Metal Work (Giorgio Guzzoni, product manager, pictured), Asco Pneumatics and IMI Precision Engineering, survey the current state of play regarding automated motion control solutions, and consider the increasingly close relationship between pneumatic and electrical technologies.
Rotork ELB combines pipeline pressure monitoring with intelligent valve control
Designed for use in the oil and gas industries, the Rotork ELB is a robust, self-contained instrument that combines pipeline pressure monitoring with intelligent valve control. The ELB can also collect detailed operational data for optimising performance and enhancing pipeline safety.
Retrofit safety using control valves
The food and beverage industry has embraced automation – partly due to the necessity of reducing production costs, but also to help meet food safety standards and personnel safety legislation. By taking a modular approach to automation, plant owners can gradually introduce new technologies and expand the number of automated processes, in order to maintain productivity and keep up with the latest safety legislation.
User-friendly automatic fault-finding CM system
Precision bearing manufacturer Schaeffler has launched a standalone system for monitoring the condition of rotating plant and equipment with fixed or variable speeds from 100 to 15,000 rpm. Schaeffler reports that, due to its automatic fault assessment feature, the system can be operated by maintenance staff with little or no expertise in vibration monitoring technology.
Taking the strain: anti-vibration specification for industry
Anti-vibration mounts protect both people and assets by isolating and attenuating vibration and noise, preventing damage to both moving machinery and the environment in which it works. Optimum performance service life is however only guaranteed if the mount is both specified and installed correctly. Geert Keustermans, market manager – general industry and distribution at Trelleborg’s industrial antivibration solutions operation, looks at the best-practice process for selecting and fitting anti-vibration mounts.
