Retrofit safety using control valves
The food and beverage industry has embraced automation – partly due to the necessity of reducing production costs, but also to help meet food safety standards and personnel safety legislation. By taking a modular approach to automation, plant owners can gradually introduce new technologies and expand the number of automated processes, in order to maintain productivity and keep up with the latest safety legislation.
User-friendly automatic fault-finding CM system
Precision bearing manufacturer Schaeffler has launched a standalone system for monitoring the condition of rotating plant and equipment with fixed or variable speeds from 100 to 15,000 rpm. Schaeffler reports that, due to its automatic fault assessment feature, the system can be operated by maintenance staff with little or no expertise in vibration monitoring technology.
Taking the strain: anti-vibration specification for industry
Anti-vibration mounts protect both people and assets by isolating and attenuating vibration and noise, preventing damage to both moving machinery and the environment in which it works. Optimum performance service life is however only guaranteed if the mount is both specified and installed correctly. Geert Keustermans, market manager – general industry and distribution at Trelleborg’s industrial antivibration solutions operation, looks at the best-practice process for selecting and fitting anti-vibration mounts.
Litre Meter supplies EFC with gear meters from sister company KEM
UK flowmeter specialist Litre Meter has supplied positive displacement gear flowmeters from KEM to oil and gas monitoring and flow control company EFC Group. The KEM ZHM KL meters are used for measuring the flow of hydraulic oil in a range of flow rates and different viscosities.
Enerpac extends portfolio of synchronised lifting systems
Leading lifting and bolting tools provider, Enerpac, unveiled the extension its portfolio of synchronised lifting systems at Bauma 2016.
Curtiss-Wright launches next-generation rotary position sensors
Curtiss-Wright’s Industrial division has launched the SRH301 and SRH302, a new range of shaft-operated, rotary position sensors offering an optimal combination of performance, safety and cost for OEMs designing vehicles and control systems.
Parker Hannifin generates global pneumatics community
Parker Hannifin, the motion control technology solutions provider, has launched dedicated pneumatics social media channels to directly connect with engineers and develop a community of like-minded professionals.
Bike champion relies on Variohm EuroSensor VLP and ELPM
As in all areas of elite sports, teams and competitors go to great lengths to ensure their equipment set-up is optimised for the best possible performance levels. This is certainly the case for Loic Bruni, the 2015 UCI mountain bike & trials downhill world champion.
Instant pneumatic cylinder configuration
Aimed at enabling design engineers to instantly configure fluid and motion control products to their individual application needs, IMI Precision Engineering has launched its best-in-class online configuration service – supporting more than 60 native CAD formats.
Meeting the demand for more complex process control systems
Process control systems in almost every industry are becoming more complex; they are subject to greater scrutiny due in part to the demand for improved efficiency, regulatory compliance and higher levels of automation and plant integration. The need for bespoke or low volume system design is also growing as a result. Bürkert has addressed this challenge by developing the Systemhaus approach, where regional technology solutions centres sit between the sales offices and larger-scale manufacturing facilities, solving problems and building innovative systems on-demand.
Factors to consider for precise thickness measurement using laser displacement sensors
If measurements from two non-contact laser displacement sensors are evaluated together, the thickness of an object can be determined. However, the accuracy of thickness measurements is determined by a number of important factors and not just linearity, writes Chris Jones, managing director at Micro-Epsilon UK.
New monitor/recorder for industrial condition monitoring now available from Ixthus
The recently announced Datawatch IX monitor/recorder from Metrix Instrument Co., the USA-based condition monitoring systems specialist, is available in the UK from Ixthus Instrumentation Ltd.
