National Oilwell Varco accredited to deliver CETOP Level 1 courses in hydraulics
BFPA Education and Training member National Oilwell Varco has been accredited to deliver CETOP Level 1 courses in Hydraulics. Following a rigorous audit by BFPA’s third party external verifier in June 2018, the company passed with flying colours and BFPA’s Membership and Training Director Martin Kingsbury presented the certificate to Tom McAllister, Director Education Services at National Oilwell Varco on 12 July.

Congratulations to BFPA member SMC Pneumatics UK Limited who celebrated 40 years of trading in the UK in April 2018, with a series of celebrations in a huge fairground style big top in Milton Keynes and BFPA member Bosch Rexroth Limited has kicked off a Technology Showcase tour around the country where visitors can experience the world of connected engineering – from Connected Hydraulics and Smart Machines through to Smart Services and Connected Factories – as part of the event.

David Phillips was the winner of this year’s BFPA Lifetime Achievement Award announced at the Motion Control Industry Awards in Birmingham on 10 April 2018.

BFPA Appoints new Events Manager
Isabelle Ambert has been appointed as BFPA’s new Events Manager based at the BFPA headquarters in Chipping Norton and joined the team in early February 2018. Isabelle will be responsible for managing the Association’s events from the AGM to seminars, Fluid Power exhibitions and all things relating to member networking.

BFPA publishes new pneumatic minimum educational recommendations for the fluid power industry
After much discussion and consultation with pneumatic industry players, training providers, end users and accreditation bodies, BFPA’s Education and Training Task Force and the BFPA is pleased to announce the release of the second of three “minimum recommendations for the fluid power industry” documents (which will cover hydraulics, pneumatics and electronic systems control); the Minimum Educational Recommendations – Pneumatics.

BFPA training courses break the 6000 barrier
In 2009, BFPA launched two brand new training courses: the one-day Foundation Course in Working Safely with Hydraulic Hose and Connectors, and the two-day Hose Assembly Skills Training Programme in response to market demand. Numbers have grown each year since then, with 2014 seeing the introduction of the Hose Integrity, Inspection and Management Course and the Small Bore Tubing Course and in 2017 a one-day refresher course for Hose Assembly Skills Training Programme was also introduced.
BFPA publishes latest updated version of P47 Issue 4 Guidelines
BFPA’s Technical Committee TC4 Connectors, has completed a review and update of the document P47 Guidelines for the use of hydraulic fluid power hose and hose assemblies which has now been published and is available free of charge to all members, with a small charge for non-members – please visit the publications pages of our website www.bfpa.co.uk
