BCAS presents lifetime achievement award

BCAS has presented its Lifetime Achievement Award to Rodney Stafford, at this year’s Motion Control Industry Awards.
Changes to ISO 8573-2 standard for oil analysis
Following a periodic review of the existing ISO 8573-2 standard (published 2007), which specifies test methods for the sampling and analysis of liquid oil and oil aerosols, a number of changes have been implemented. These changes will enable more environmentally-friendly solvents to be used as well as making the standard easier to adhere to.
Fluorinated Gas (F-Gas) regulation update

The EU F-Gas regulation aims to move end users away from using harmful refrigerant gases to more environmentally friendly options, by limiting how much HFC-style gas can be sold each year.
BCAS offers free associate membership

At this year’s Air-Tech exhibition (10 to 12 April 2018), BCAS is offering 12 months’ free associate membership worth £975.
CE marking post Brexit

BCAS is calling on the UK government to keep the CE mark as it leaves the EU. Vanda Jones, executive director for BCAS, said: “The CE mark plays a crucial role in ensuring that products flow freely across Europe and that they meet safety, quality and environment laws.”

Compressed air tools are common in workplaces across the UK and many employees can take them for granted ignoring the hazards involved in their use. If you or any colleagues work with compressed air, make sure you know how to work safely and be aware of the risks involved.
Adapting to the circular economy

The compressed air industry has had an excellent record of minimising energy consumption through design and servicing, but now it is time for a step change as the EU commission pushes industry towards resource efficiency and the circular economy, Tim Preece (pictured), technical officer at BCAS, takes a look at what it means moving forwards.
Industry 4.0 – a lack of urgency


A recent BCAS survey has revealed an apparent indifference towards industry 4.0 and the rise of new digital industrial technology with only 24% of compressed air end users stating that it is very important at the moment. Is it hype over reality, or a lack of awareness?
