PNEUROP sets the green agenda

BCAS is playing host to the 2015 PNEUROP Plenary, an important annual event for the compressed air, gas and vacuum industry between the 25 to 27 June in Stratford-upon-Avon.


PNEUROP is the European Committee of manufacturers of compressors, vacuum pumps, pneumatic tools and allied equipment. Its members are national associations representing more than 200 manufacturers in eight EU Member States.

At the Plenary, attendees will be holding meetings and workshops to discuss developments affecting their business, in particular issues surrounding green energy, including the ‘PNEUROP Green Challenge 2020’ project and the Eco-Design Directive.

Through the Green Challenge project, PNEUROP wishes to draw attention to the importance of compressed air and vacuum equipment in helping to reach Europe’s 2020 energy saving goals. The first step will be to discuss how the correct storage of C02 and hydrogen in compressors and vacuum pumps can be made clearer to the general public.

PNEUROP will also be discussing the Eco-Design Directive, which sets out principles to be adopted by compressed air designers and manufacturers to ensure all aspects of the system run more efficiently. The EU wants compressed air regulation to be published by the end of 2015, so the Plenary will be vital in deciding PNEUROP’s stance on the directive.

Alongside this, BCAS members are welcome to attend the Plenary’s social events, which include a formal dinner held in the Great Hall at Warwick Castle.
