ASL satisfies increasing demand for failsafe functionality with electrohydraulic KEH series from Quifer
The UK-based independent provider of valve automation products, Actuated Solutions (ASL), continues to see demand grow for its KEH series of quarter-turn actuators from Quifer.
Distributed in the UK exclusively by ASL, the KEH features a compact modular design incorporating a spring return actuator and closed-loop hydraulic pump. The springs provide a true failsafe action with the precision of electrical control.
When energised, hydraulic pressure is generated to open the actuator and, upon loss of power, the KEH automatically moves to the failsafe position.
According to ASL, the springs do not require maintenance and are considered to be the industry standard for field-proven reliable shutdown - offering better reliability than other solutions such as batteries which have a restricted temperature range and require regular monitoring and periodic replacement.
The KEH is claimed to be ideal for operating in harsh or hazardous conditions and is available for both rack & pinion and larger scotch yoke actuators with torques up to 46,000NM. Multiple options are available including push button local controls, limit switches, modulating control, quick closing and manual override.
ASL’s director, Chris Hickey, says: “The KEH is a real step forward in quarter-turn actuation and it’s proved to be very popular with customers demanding a robust solution for failsafe applications when air is not available. It’s a hugely versatile product and one that we know performs exceptionally well even in the most challenging of environments.”
Available for both ATEX and safe areas, the electro-hydraulic actuator is claimed by ASL to afford users safety and functionality, which includes full European certification and manufacture.
