Grand Coffee hits the right note with the help of Omega Air

Demanding requirements

Grand Coffee’s requirement was for nitrogen production of 260 m3/h with a guaranteed minimum purity of 99.86 % in all operating conditions (including on hot summer days) and all necessary equipment to produce compressed air from which the nitrogen could be separated. The company has a 132kW screw compressor and a back-up 90kW screw compressor that is used on demand.

“No other bidders were able to guarantee the purity and quality of the nitrogen given the variable input conditions,” said Marko Škulj, air and gas marketing support at Omega Air. “It was only Omega’s knowhow that enabled the generator feed to be stabilised.

Purity testing

For this project, Grand Coffee also asked for purity testing of the nitrogen; first by taking samples and then by sending samples to accredited laboratories.

Grand Coffee has to ensure the highest quality of its products. The Omega system allows for random sampling by the customer on the inlet to the nitrogen receiver. This is subsequently sent to an accredited lab for certification and examination, ensuring a continuous quality audit trial from the nitrogen production system.

 Good ROI

Grand Coffee realised it was paying for and using a much higher grade of nitrogen that was actually demanded by the application. The company was fixed on this by its bottle supplier who could only offer ‘cryo’ produced nitrogen at a 99.999% purity. The Omega system allows the customer to generate a 99.86% purity (in excess of the mandated 99.5% for food production), therefore providing a good return on investment. Grand Coffee is now in charge of its own production purity and rate and no longer has to spend time managing the logistics of bottle supply.
