Putting the customer first for nearly a quarter of a century
It is 24 years since Pirtek Swindon became the 16th Pirtek Centre to open its doors in the UK. Today, the original licensee Andy Edwards, together with his team, continues to serve customers across Wiltshire and now also in Somerset.
Andy Edwards, assisted by wife Kay, first opened the doors of the Centre in 1993. Since then, Pirtek Swindon has diversified to become a manufacturer, supplier and installer of highly specialised brake hoses for the rail industry. The Centre has also been working for the Armed Forces at Salisbury Plain for the past few years, supplying hoses to highly exacting standards.
“Customer service is at the heart of everything we do,” said Edwards. As an example of how this ethos is put into practice within specific industry sectors, he explained that Pirtek Swindon personnel have undergone specialist training to allow them to work trackside when serving customers in the rail sector.
Fast response
The Centre now has seven mobile service vans on the road; each manned by a qualified Mobile Sales and Service Technician (MSST) to ensure a fast response to customer emergency calls. The Centre has also dedicated two members of staff – one based at the Centre and the other on the road – to satisfy the demands of the rail sector and the Armed Forces.
Edwards now also owns the Pirtek Westbury Centre, which is increasingly benefiting from his team’s ‘customer first’ approach.
