Reelcare sets up shop in South Africa

Reelcare Ltd. – which currently distributes hose and cable reeling equipment in the UK through its own network of distributors and OEMs – holds many agencies from globally respected hose reel manufacturers. The company plans where possible to replicate this successful UK business model in South Africa.

The new venture was not a difficult decision to make, according to Terry Crabtree, sales director of Reelcare UK. “We already enjoy doing business in South Africa within the mining and lubrication industries, and have done for a good many years,” he said. “Over that time, we have developed some extremely good business relationships within that market sector.”

However, added Crabtree, the company also recognised that even though the mining industry is extremely large in SA, there were also a lot more industries to target and Reelcare. “We knew that we were missing out on a large chunk of business there,” he said, “and whilst there are companies that sell small ranges of hose reels here and there, there are none that are specialist or have a complete extensive range of products to offer as Reelcare does. Reelcare SA has not only been set up to supply the South African market, but the long-term plan is also to develop its business throughout the continent, east, west and sub-Saharan Africa. So it was a very simple decision to set up shop there and whilst it will be hard work for all involved, we are all very excited about this expansion.”

With nearly 100 years combined experience in the hose, and cable reel industries within the Reelcare Group, Crabtree comments that the South African market is in good hands and can be assured of the correct advice for their requirements.
