Rotec acquires Ram Reman

21 August, 2015

Rotec Holdings has acquired Ram Reman Ltd., the cylinder manufacturer and repairer of West Moors, Dorset.

Rotec commenced trading in Taunton in 1979 retailing hydraulic hose and fittings and industrial hose from an old butchers shop in the Halcon Estate area. After a couple of years trading, the Directors recognised the need for a technical design and build facility, which resulted in the employment of experienced hydraulic engineering staff. The company then proceeded to supply hydraulic power packs and electronic control systems to a variety of industries including items for use in tunnelling equipment, forestry forwarders and naval equipment.

In 2003 the company the company was recognised by Parker Hannifin Plc and appointed a Hydraulic Technology Centre for the South West distributing the company’s range of hydraulic equipment.

This opportunity, coupled with a management buyout in 2007, allowed the expansion and opening of two further depots in Plymouth, and Stroud. The company employs a total of 32 people, 21 of whom are at their Priorswood HQ, and the principal manufacturing facility. Rotec success has led them to be key suppliers to number of well-known organisations such as the Ministry of Defence, Babcock, Airbus and Western Power Distribution.

Strengthened expertise

The acquisition of Ram Reman now enables the group to add the design and manufacture of hydraulic cylinders to its product portfolio, strengthening its expertise and adding to the supply of all component and systems requirements to its considerable customer base.

Ram Reman will continue to trade as an autonomous trading entity, but will of course strengthen the Group’s capabilities as a whole. Rotec reports that it is happy to have the continuity of management skills of John and Niki Beavon, and Thelma Morris, with whose help it is proposed to drive the business forward. The aim of the newly acquired business is to increase the overall Groups manufacturing capability, including fabrication, and design and build solutions to customer requirements.
