Gardner Denver opens new high-pressure refurbishment centre

17 June, 2015

Gardner Denver’s new high-pressure compressor refurbishment facility can extend the life of any existing Reavell or Bellis & Morcom high-pressure air compressor, helping customers to reduce their capital expenditure costs.

The new facility, based at the company’s Redditch Centre of Excellence can restore an existing machine to its as-new condition, for a fraction of the cost of purchasing a brand new unit. In the 20 months that it has been open, more than 80 customers (an average of over one machine per week) have already benefitted from the range of services provided.

Tim Larcombe, high pressure service manager at Gardner Denver, commented: “Gardner Denver high-pressure compressors are built for durability, but, after many years’ service, performance can become less efficient.

“However, for many customers, it can be problematic to simply upgrade an installation to the latest technology. In high-pressure compressed air applications, there are often many bespoke elements to the design. So retaining the existing machine for as long as possible can make sound financial sense With one of the industry’s most experienced refurbishment teams, we can offer customers a wide variety of services to extend the working life of their existing compressor installation.

“First, we offer an engineer site visit, to assess the compressor’s condition in situ, followed by a full diagnostic test to evaluate performance. We then provide a comprehensive report, which identifies the remedial action that should be taken to return the machine to an as-new standard. Our engineers then completely rework each compressor, from component level, back to its original factory specification.”

Each machine is fully warranted for 12 months, including all component parts and workmanship, with typical turnaround times of between two and four weeks only.

In addition, all compressors are refurbished using only Gardner Denver genuine spare parts, proven to extend the working life of a compressor and to increase performance when compared to using other manufacturers’ components.

The refurbishment centre is part of Gardner Denver’s global high pressure Centre of Excellence. The centre is a major local employer, with more than 300 employees and a thriving apprenticeship scheme that is helping to encourage young talent in to the industry.
