DuPont Opteon XP40 and XP10 approved by Bitzer

Opteon XP40 is a new optimised low GWP, non-flammable replacement for R-404A and R-507. XP40 has more than 60 per cent lower GWP and up to 10 per cent improved energy efficiency compared to R-404A. Opteon XP10 is an optimised new low GWP, azeotropic, non-flammable replacement for R-134a with over 55 per cent lower GWP with comparable properties and performance.

Final step

McCord, global business director, DuPont Fluorochemicals. “This inclusion marks the final step in Bitzer’s approval of XP40 and XP10 for its compressors and sets the stage for these new low GWP refrigerants to become the products of choice in refrigeration and other applications.”

As a supplier of more environmentally sustainable refrigerants, DuPont has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to bring to market the most sustainable refrigerants with no ozone depletion potential and low global warming potential. The company and its suppliers have plans to invest hundreds of millions more in the next five years to bring online additional capacity of these more sustainable, high-performance products that serve a wide range of applications.
