SOLAR TECHNOLOGY
A NOV MONO Sun-Sub solar pumping system is helping reduce water and power consumption costs at a major logistics warehouse in China. The Mono equipment draws water which is used to clean the tyres of trucks entering the DB Schenker Logistics warehouse in Jiangsu province.
Using a GPS tracker to make maximum use of the available sunlight., the system operates up to 12 hours a day, drawing over 10 m3 of water from a well and pumping it over 80 metres to the vehicle washing station reservoir.
Juergen Schmidt, technical support, said: “We realised that by using solar power to extract water for our operations, we could reduce our costs by cutting down both the amount of water we consume and the power we use to pump it into the vehicle washing system.”
