Automation enhances fastener production for global demand

To meet rising global demand, Lindapter partnered with TF Automation to develop an automated assembly and inspection solution, improving yield, product consistency, and quality across its specialist fastener range. H&P reports.
As demand for industrial products grows on a global scale, manufacturers face increasing pressure to deliver higher volumes without compromising on quality. For Lindapter, a company recognised worldwide for its steelwork clamping systems, meeting this challenge meant looking to automation.
The company approached TF Automation with a clear brief: design and build an assembly and inspection system for its range of fasteners. With volumes set to rise, the existing manual process required additional automation to support productivity targets.
Solution
The solution was an automated machine capable of assembling a variety of fasteners, differing in length and surface finish—specifically zinc-plated and hot dip galvanised. Components are fed into the system via vibratory mechanisms, orientated correctly, and assembled to torque specification. An optional thread-chasing function removes residual plating debris, improving product reliability.
Inspection
Inspection is handled in-line, using vision systems to verify correct assembly before the products are packed in defined quantities. The result is a consistent and repeatable process that reduces the reliance on manual labour while increasing overall yield.
Tony Hubbert, Managing Director of TF Automation, said: “We have designed and built numerous assembly and inspection machines for a wide range of clients and were keen to use our expertise to support Lindapter with this process automation project. The machine has enabled an increase in production yield, improved quality and consistency and ensures standardisation.”
This approach to automation reflects a wider trend in UK manufacturing: applying practical, targeted technology to address real production challenges. For Lindapter, the benefits are already clear - greater efficiency, higher output, and a more consistent product, ready to meet global demand.
