Atlas Copco Compressors appoints Ian Ainsworth as Business Line Manager
Atlas Copco Compressors has announced the appointment of Ian Ainsworth as Business Line Manager, Sales and Marketing, of its Compressor Technique Service division in the UK. Ian succeeds Paul Clark, who retired at the end of March 2023. Commenting on his new position, Ainsworth said “I am looking forward to building on the work Paul and the team have done over the years. We remain committed to delivering compressed air solutions that reduce cost, increase uptime and improve energy efficiencies for our customers. Our focus will be customer-centric with an emphasis on our advanced services offering and building on and growing our customer base.”
A UK citizen, Ainsworth has lived in South Africa for more than 40 years where he gained a wealth of experience to bring to his new role. He most recently worked at Atlas Copco in South Africa as Business Line Manager for Compressor Technique Service, a position he held for more than five and a half years. Prior to this, he held various sales and management roles of increasing seniority with engineering companies including Ingersoll Rand, Bilfinger and Alfa Laval. Ainsworth is also a qualified marine engineer and holds a Bachelor’s degree in business and finance and a Master’s degree in business leadership.
In his new role, Ainsworth and the nationwide Compressor Technique Service sales team will be focused on providing a wide range of services to help users identify potential energy savings and optimise the performance of their compressor room equipment and industrial gas systems.
“Compressed air users face multiple challenges including rising energy costs, market volatility and fluctuating demand. We can support them by providing the right technology and services to spread their risks and costs, so they can deploy the most efficient, cost-effective equipment and ancillaries for their needs,” says Ainsworth.
As a single source service provider, Atlas Copco says it has the skills to maintain any compressor brand, and offers a complete support package for any site where air is utilised. This can range from tailored, long-term service agreements to extend equipment life, or products like Atlas Copco’s SmartLink system, which delivers the connectivity and data capture required to monitor compressor performance and respond to production trends.
Outside of work, Ainsworth enjoys reading, running and cycling. Originally from the UK, he is located currently in St Leonard’s following his return from South Africa and will be based out of Atlas Copco’s premises in Hemel Hempstead.
