Ward chooses Commercial Vehicle Hydraulics for £2 million investment in green upgrade

14 October, 2021

Derbyshire-based metal and waste recycling specialist, Ward, has invested over £2 million in upgrading its materials handling vehicles to improve energy efficiency and safety across its 120- strong fleet.

The investment includes 21 new vehicles consisting of roll on/offs, skip and tipper lorries, articulated lorries, numerous trailers and four 8 wheelers designed specifically for Ward. All vehicles are 21’ plate and ordered through local DAF, Volvo and Scania main dealers.

Commercial Vehicle Hydraulics has been awarded the contract to supply 12 tipper wetkits over all three chassis manufacturers. CVH comments that its versatility ensures the correct solutions for Ward’s application. Each of the different chassis requires a different hydraulic tank to suit each vehicle layout. Moreover, CVH’s location is ideal for Ward should a service requirement ever arise.

Commitment to ongoing sustainability

Donald Ward, operations director at Ward, says: “This is another significant investment and commitment to our ongoing sustainability strategy. We continually review our fleet, moving out older vehicles and bringing in more efficient replacements.”

Carl Hinds, managing director at Commercial Vehicle Hydraulics, says: “We’re delighted that Ward Recycling has once again chosen CVH for their latest 12 tipper wetkits. With their trucks often having to carry irregular payloads, this is the ideal solution for hydraulic power to tip the load.”
