Slack & Parr and Hydraulics Online join forces

25 March, 2021

Slack and Parr Ltd, the manufacturer of ultra-high-precision gear metering flow dividers, has partnered with multi awardwinning Hydraulics Online Ltd to harness greater market reach and support for the company’s product portfolio.

Slack & Parr comments that the partnership was an obvious move for both parties. As well as being privately owned and UK-based, both companies share a number of common values – not least the desire to drive quality and innovation and deliver customer-centric solutions.

Dynamic, interactive and farreaching approach

“We are really excited to be joining together with Hydraulics Online,” says Neil Anderton, Slack & Parr’s hydraulics and industrial director. (pictured) “We have historically had a relatively traditional approach to sales and marketing, and therefore this is an area where we were actively looking to make improvements.

Hydraulics Online have a very dynamic, interactive and far-reaching approach to this, and by signing a new Distributor Agreement with them we know this will provide significant benefits to both of our businesses.”

Founded in 1917, Kegworth-based Slack & Parr established a hydraulic division in 1978, initially manufacturing hydraulic power packs, fuel pumps, flow meters and flow dividers. However, in more recent years the company took the strategic decision to specialise solely in the design and manufacture of highprecision geared flow dividers, in rotation speeds ranging from 750 rpm to 3000 rpm.

Slack and Parr states that its expertise in high-precision gear design technology now delivers world-class performance for customers: precision ground surface finishes on gear teeth and plate faces produce tight clearances and deliver a much higher accuracy and efficiency than any other comparable flow dividing technology available.

Suitable for a broad range of applications, Slack & Parr flow dividers are often deployed in lifting arms, pipe and drill clamping systems in the oil & gas industry, hydraulic presses, agricultural machinery, railroad track laying, waste compactors, lubrication systems, marine and sub-sea machinery, steel mills, specialist vehicles and transportation to name a few.

Additional platform

Anderton continues: “We will still be working with our existing customer base in the same way as we previously have done, but our new link with Hydraulics Online gives us the additional platform to now reach a significantly bigger potential customer base.”

Mark Tonks, managing director of Hydraulics Online Ltd, comments: “We know the quality of Slack & Parr’s product range and were delighted when they asked to explore ways of working together. We have always operated outside the traditional product distributorship model to offer personal, independent advice to all customers. Our approach is valued by UK and international customers alike – the latter being recognised by the UK Government’s Department for International Trade who have identified Hydraulics Online as ‘Export Champions’ since 2019. Working with Hydraulics Online will enable Slack & Parr to extend their market reach through the added services and personalised customer service that our team provides.”
