Public Consultation on Review of Machinery Directive –closes 30 August 2019
Yvonne Pearman, BFPA’s Standards Project Manager highlights the European Commission’s public consultation which has opened in respect of revision of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC which closes on 30 August 2019.
The Machinery Directive is in need of updating to improve safety levels further and take account of latest IT innovations. The proposed revision:
Aligns the Directive with EU harmonised legislation on product health and safety Tackles the challenges that may arise from technical progress in digitalisation

Inception impact assessments aim to inform the general public and stakeholders about the Commission’s plans, so that they can provide feedback on the intended initiative and participate effectively in future consultation activities.
