Flowtechnology UK Convention 2018 hits the right note

05 June, 2018

On 24 March Flowtechnology headed to The Royal Armouries in Leeds for its convention and gala evening. With a theme of ‘Pioneers of Industry’, the event included a daytime exhibition of 41 key suppliers to the hydraulics and pneumatics industry, demonstrating the latest product innovations and services.

Suppliers also had the opportunity to present key speeches on the exclusive Seminar stage. Both customers and suppliers had an enjoyable afternoon, which also included access to the world-renowned Royal Armouries museum, with its 70,000 historic artefacts, thought-provoking stories and interactive displays.

Lively event

The evening saw 260 guests, suppliers and staff head to the Grand Queen’s Ballroom at the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds city centre for a champagne and cocktails reception, before taking their seats for a five-course meal, live entertainment, a charity raffle and the Flowtechnology UK Awards Ceremony.

Following a welcome performance from the All For One Choir, who continued to sing throughout the dinner, Flowtechnology UK’s managing director, John Farmer, officially opened the gala evening promising an evening of enjoyable food, entertainment and awards. The evening hit the right note on every level, from the surprise appearance of Flash Mob Waiters who got the party going on the dancefloor to comedian Justin Moorhouse.

The Awards Ceremony recognised the achievements and hard work of both customers and suppliers. The winners of the 2018 awards were:

• Distributor of the Year: Engineers Mate.

• Group Branch Distributor of the Year: MF Hydraulics.

• Catalogue Cover of the Year: Christy Hydraulics.

• Webstore Outstanding Achievement: Air Systems Group.

• Supplier of the Year: Parker Hannifin.

The night rounded off with a filled dancefloor as everyone enjoyed the music of the Hypertones, who played hits from across the decades into the early hours.
