Gardner Denver holds High Pressure and Distributor Open Days

30 August, 2017

Gardner Denver ran a well-attended High Pressure Open Day and Distributor Open Day in June at its Redditch site, during which the company introduced its new, energy efficient L30e – L45e air compressor range.

Colin Mander, regional director Northern Europe, Eastern, Europe,Africa, Middle East, India, Nordics and Italy at Gardner Denver, introduced the proceedings, emphasising the importance of the company’s distributor network. He made the point that Gardner Denver is committed to selling through its distribution partners. “This is one of the main reasons why we don’t employ hundreds of people,” he said, adding that Garner Denver relies on a more select group of internal personnel because its distributor network makes up a large part of the total team.

Andrew Power, country manager at Gardner Denver UK, spoke about the new L30e – L45e air compressor range. He explained that when developing a new product, Gardner Denver looks at a range of attributes; including reliability, footprint, cost and efficiency. He pointed out that Gardner Denver personnel in Germany recently conducted a voice-of-customer survey, which found that when looking to purchase a new compressor companies’ third largest requirement was low noise levels, and second in importance was the reliability of the service and support provided by the equipment supplier, together with the reliability of the equipment itself. The number one requirement was total cost of ownership. Power added that all these customer requirements and more have been addressed when brining the new range to market. More details on the L30e – L45e will be provided soon in Hydraulics & Pneumatics.

Graham Read, area sales manager at Gardner Denver, spoke about energy auditing, with a focus on the importance of flowmeters. He commented that flowmeters are important because if you can’t measure what a system is doing you can’t do much to improve it.

Total site overview

Read explained that up to 35% of compressed air generated can be wasted through leakage and fluctuating demands. He emphasised that regular servicing and an effective maintenance regime can substantially improve the level of efficiency of a machine. Read added that when doing a compressed air energy audit it is advisable to conduct a total site overview – look at power output, dew point, air quality, pressure, leakages, pipework, temperature etc.

Simon Taylor, area sales manager at Gardner Denver, gave a presentation on the information portal Repsnet 2.0. He pointed out that he has been been with the company for nearly 15 years and couldn’t remember a time when Repsnet has had more content than it has over the past few months. He commented that Repsenet it is an excellent source of information about the company’s products for the distributor network, making it easier for them to have easy, immediate access to the information they need in order to prepare the best possible proposal for prospective customers. He added that Repsnet can be downloaded onto a smartphone or tablet PC for greater convenience on the move.
