Maziak votes for Lakelands Day Hospice as its Charity of The Year

Paul Marlow, fundraising manager at Lakelands Day Care Hospice, said: “That’s fantastic news, thank you so much. I can’t tell you how excited we are to be working with Maziak’s team in 2017.”

Lakelands Hospice is an independent charity supporting a 20-mile radius around Corby, committed to delivering the best possible practice and development of specialist palliative care for people with cancer, heart failure and other life-limiting illnesses. The hospice honours people's right to dignity and respect during all stages of their illness, by improving the quality of life of all attendees and their families.

Lakelands is entirely funded by community support and as a local business Maziak is keen to make a positive contribution to local society and the communities it operates in. Emma Maziak, marketing director at Maziak commented: “We are a pretty lovely bunch at Maziak when it comes to loving and giving and supporting good causes. We wanted to identify a local charity that we can partner with to give a real focus to our efforts and to pool our goodwill.”

Initiatives

Mazak’s plan is for its staff to raise funds by participating in and supporting Lakelands Day Care Hospice’s comprehensive programme of events and to supplement these with initiatives of its own. Maziak has already launched an internal initiative modelled on the TV Show ‘Biggest Loser’. Interested staff have signed up to an eight-week programme in the hope of being crowned ‘Maziak’s Biggest Loser’ in terms of percentage weight loss.

Emma Maziak added: “Lakelands get no NHS or Lottery Funding and not only do they do a brilliant job at the Day Hospice, but their Hospice At Home Service really made an impression on me.”

Over the coming weeks, Maziak staff will be visiting the Day Hospice facility to get a real sense of how funds raised will make a difference. At the same time, the calendar of activities for fundraising is being finalised and the target for the year will then be announced to give the partnership real focus.
