SCR releases 4th generation permanent magnet screw compressor

22 September, 2016

SCR Air Ltd. has launched its 4th generation permanent magnet screw compressor. The latest generation machines feature the companies new touch screen HMI controller giving advanced flexibility as standard.

Programmable schedules and pressure settings are simple making it ideal for periods of reduced production.

The PM range is one of the most energy efficient screw compressors available, claiming additional energy savings of 7 to 10 per cent over a standard variable speed drive machine. These additional savings are due in part to the IP65 oil cooled motor which has an efficiency of up to 96.8 per cent.

The variable speed cooling fan also makes it one of the quietest machines on the market and gives further energy savings. The fully enclosed IP65 motor also makes it ideal for use in poor environments.

With a wide operating band of 75-300Hz the machine can load even at the lowest frequency making it ideal for air users with a varying demand. Efficiency therefore remains throughout the speed range and doesn't have an efficiency 'sweet spot' such as a standard variable speed machine.

The current range of PM machines are available from 22kW up to 75kW with both larger and smaller models being added to the existing range shortly.

SCR comments that, as with all its products, ‘Quality Without Cost’ remains a priority and the new PM machines deliver on that promise, adding only a small premium over the cost of a standard VSD compressor.
