Instant pneumatic cylinder configuration
Aimed at enabling design engineers to instantly configure fluid and motion control products to their individual application needs, IMI Precision Engineering has launched its best-in-class online configuration service – supporting more than 60 native CAD formats.
Partnering with Cadenas, the online CAD solutions provider, the new service allows design engineers to instantly configure pneumatic cylinders, view price and availability and download a CAD file of the completed configuration in their chosen native format – including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, NX and Catia.
Engineers can choose to customise a wide range of product features, including: cushioning; cylinder diameter; stroke length; piston type; seals; and mounts. Image preview is available at every step, while the price and delivery date is updated after every modification, giving engineers a clear picture throughout the configuration process. And, through IMI Precision Engineering’s existing e-commerce capabilities, immediate online purchase is quick and efficient.
Immediate pricing and delivery
Jez Ashton, global online marketing manager at IMI Precision Engineering, commented: “As part of our journey to provide a world-leading online experience for our customers, we know that configuration and online CAD functionality is vital. Cadenas data revealed that 73 per cent of design engineers only source from suppliers that provide CAD downloads*, but we wanted to go above and beyond this and by offering immediate pricing and delivery as well as a preview of the configured part at every stage of the configuration process, we are aiming to give engineers and the information and tools they need.”
Ashton continued: “Offering CAD downloads in a variety of native formats was also crucial as we know that 85 per cent of design engineers prefer data in their native CAD format*, and our new service allows us to offer the greatest range of file formats available anywhere.”
