MGR Fluid Power establishes new pipe fitting training facility

01 June, 2011

MGR Fluid Power has established a new pipe fitting training facility at its premises in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. MGR Fluid Power’s sales & engineering director, Mike Retford, commented: “In addition to our other already established hydraulic systems training provision, our new converted facilities offer the benefit of an in-house practical session on pipe fitting. I believe we’re one of very few places in the UK that provide this type of training opportunity.”

Retford explained that part of the rationale behind the new training offering was that when MGR Fluid Power trained individuals on pipe manipulation techniques on location at their own company’s premises, a request for more staff training would often follow. “With our new facilities we have the capacity to train more people at the same time in an interruption-free environment, and with all the required vices and other pipe bending equipment readily to hand,” he said, adding: “However, we are completely independent in that we don’t promote any one equipment provider; indeed, our site houses a broad range of equipment from various well-respected suppliers.”
MGR Fluid Power was originally formed in February 2007 to provide hydraulic systems design and maintenance services to end users in the hydraulics industry. The company has since grown into a hydraulic systems and training provider; and in 2008 added pipe fitting capability to the business, offering more comprehensive maintenance packages to the industry. The company has also recently introduced a hydraulic system design service with the acquisition of the Automation Studio simulation programme. In addition to its pipe fitting courses, MGR Fluid Power recently became approved to present the BFPA ‘Foundation Course in Working Safely with Hydraulic Hose & Connectors’.
Retford concluded: “We feel pipe fitting skills in the UK are not as plentiful or broadly promoted as they could be. We have launched our new training facility in order to remedy this situation.”
