New BCAS technical officer
BCAS has appointed Dean Abbott as its new technical officer designate. He will take over from Greg Bordiak, who is retiring at the end of 2015 after more than 25 years in the role.
Dean will work alongside Greg throughout 2015, enabling him to experience the society’s technical committees, its work with European bodies and the requirements of BCAS members at first hand.
Commenting on the appointment, Chris Dee, executive director at BCAS said: “Firstly, our thanks go to Greg for his efforts over the past 25 years. His work has been instrumental in enabling the society to provide unbiased advice on legislation, technical standards, education, compliance, safety and environmental matters that affect suppliers and users of compressed air and vacuum systems.
“Dean brings with him a wealth of engineering experience, with his most recent role lasting seven years as an Aviation Surveyor. Before this he enjoyed 25 years’ service in the Royal Air Force, leaving as a Chief Technician, and progressing to a senior Civil Service position in the Training Aircraft Integrated Project team. This provides him with the necessary skills to be accomplished in his new position. He is also an adaptable, resourceful and hardworking engineer with an eye for detail and accuracy, which makes him a perfect fit for BCAS.”
