Booming sales of explosion-proof products bring additional growth for SMC

17 March, 2011

Following the introduction of the EC 94/9 ATEX directive in July 2003, sales of ATEX-compliant products have been booming for pneumatics systems provider SMC.

The directive, which is focused on equipment and protective systems used in potentially explosive atmospheres, is part of the current CE accreditation scheme and includes both electrical and non electrical products within the current legislation.
With this increased interest in ATEX products, SMC - who have an extensive range of  ATEX compliant components - have recently updated and improved their 134 page ATEX component catalogue and at the same time also produced a six-page ATEX  overview leaflet.

Both the ATEX catalogue and overview leaflet can be downloaded from SMC´s European website, www.smc.eu  and the printed overview leaflet is now available from your local SMC sales engineer in the UK.

The SMC portfolio of ATEX compliant products includes air cylinders, rodless cylinders, dual rod cylinders, various types of rotary actuators, auto switches, solenoid valves, serial interface units, positioners and pumps - in fact, all the key products used  in pneumatic automation solutions.

With a further commitment to extend their range of ATEX complaint products in the future, SMC look to be bang on target for another booming year of ATEX product  sales.
