Atlas Copco Compressors appoints new sales manager for high-pressure applications
Following the company’s acquisition of Greenfield AG of Switzerland and New Zealand-based Intermech, Atlas Copco Compressors has appointed John Cornes as sales manager for its high-pressure air and gas compressors. Cornes joins Atlas Copco from his previous role at CompAir Reavell where he sold high-pressure machines. He also previously worked at Belliss & Morcom selling process gas and PET compressors.
Together with his mechanical engineering qualifications, Cornes brings a wealth of knowledge and close to 40 years experience in the high pressure compression field. His primary role will be to develop equipment sales for specific HP applications including PET bottle blowing, industrial gases production and seismic surveying operations. Another major focus will be on Compressed Natural Gas and Biogas destined for vehicle re-fuelling and direct mains injection. With this latest development, Atlas Copco Compressors is able to extend its offering to include air and gas compressors with flows from 50Nm3/Hr up to 6500Nm3/Hr and pressures up to 500 bar(g).
Cornes said of his appointment: “The use of Biogas is increasing in popularity in the UK and, with its acquisition of Greenfield AG, Atlas Copco is now in an excellent position to meet the needs of this growing market. I’m looking forward to the new challenges this role will present and to establishing Atlas Copco Compressors as a leading name in the UK high pressure market.
Outside of his work-related activities, Cornes is a keen footballer and West Bromwich Albion fan and has recently added photography to his leisure interests.
