New concept in hose reel safety from Redashe (Aug 2013)
The Assembly Reel has been specifically designed to meet the demanding production requirements and safety regulations found in modern automated factories as well as other manufacturing facilities. The Assembly Reel is designed to operate in heavy duty applications and can be floor, wall, or ceiling mounted. It has a fail-safe brake that keeps the air tool hanging under the reel when not in use.
A short pull on the hose is sufficient to disengage the brake mechanism, once the brake has disengaged, pull out the desired length of hose manually. Unlike spring rewind hose reels, the force required to pull out the hose is minimal and remains constant throughout the whole length of hose.
An important advantage of the Assembly Reel is that the operator does not have to lift the hose or push an additional switch to generate a retraction signal. Due to a patented flow detection module all it takes is one short pulse on the trigger of the air tool. When the reel receives a proper retraction signal the red LED indicator will come on for 1 second and the motorised retraction will start. The speed of retraction is adjustable to meet the operator’s working pace. Hence, once the motorized retraction has started, the hose is cleared from the floor.
The retraction speed is adjustable between 0.5 m/sec (1.5 ft./sec) and 1.5 m/sec (5.0 ft./sec). The rewind System controls and eliminates the high-speed recoil that can be associated with conventional spring driven reels if the hose is let go under tension. This protects both personnel and equipment which is especially important with the assembly of high value products.
