Hydraproducts extends power pack family (June 2013)
Hydraulic powerpack manufacturer Hydraproducts has added to its micro pack family, providing a compact installation on a NAMUR interfaced valve actuator.
Designed to fit directly onto a NAMUR interface, rotary and linear process valve actuators can be readily converted to electro-hydraulic operation. Hydraulic operation of a valve positioner produces a stiffer system performance when compared to pneumatics. Power fail open or power fail safe options are claimed to be easily achieved with built-in load holding check valves.
When installed on remote sites these power packs deliver high levels of reliability and require minimal maintenance. 12 and 24VDC systems have been installed on customer’s sites using solar energy alone. Application led product development has given Hydraproducts a family of Micro powerpacks for a diverse range of applications/needs.
The single acting (HPU) micro power pack was initially designed for a desktop holograph security document printer. The HPU can now be found in tail lifts, wind turbine brakes and access bollards.
Major leap
The reversible version (HPR) followed, designed for actuation of double acting cylinders by simply reversing the motor polarity. Compact integration of dual pilot check and relief valves produces systems found in machine tool clamping, patient handling and access platform applications.
The next major leap was driven by an application for solar tracking systems, where particularly high efficiencies were demanded. According to Hydraproducts, pressure compensating gear pumps that yield an improvement of 20 per cent over a standard gear pump have recently been implemented throughout.
Now boasting a comprehensive selection of AC and DC drive motors, gear pumps and tanks that are interchangeable across the whole family.
“Bringing together a family of products such as this has been a totally customer focused process, one that has now enabled Hydraproducts to invest in manufacturing facilities to continue to react to export market needs” said managing director, Ben Lee.
