Hydrapower Dynamics wins order for Finn-Power 2000 ton King Crimper swaging machine (April 2012)

11 April, 2012

Hydrapower Dynamics has recently won an order to supply and commission what is thought to be the world’s largest and strongest crimping machine to a UK customer for the manufacture of large bore hose assemblies. This crimping machine has a crimping range of 200mm up to 650mm and was supplied with 2000 ton of crimping pressure to enable the customer to connect steel and special material fittings to its large-bore hoses. By providing a crimping range of 200mm up to 650mm, this machine proves its versatility as well as providing an enormous crimping force.

‘Crimping by force’ method
The King Crimper incorporates the latest innovations in a high-quality crimping control system and has the capacity to crimp using force as well as by the conventional dimensional method. The ‘crimping by force’ method is gathering popularity as it enables the force to be calculated in order to successfully crimp components together. This is especially useful in the field of industrial hose assembly manufacture, where the correct crimping dimensions may not be known but the force can be calculated to provide a leak-free connection.
Hydrapower Dynamics has been the UK and Ireland distributor for the past 25 years, and has always worked closely with its customers and with Finn-Power to ensure a successful partnership. This proved vital in obtaining this order for the 2000 ton king crimper, as much work had to be done between the customer, Hydrapower Dynamics and Finn-Power.

Extensive testing
Noel Chambers, the Finn-Power sales manager, travelled to the Finn-Power factory in Finland with the customer and carried out extensive tests on hose and fittings supplied by the customer. This ensured that correct information was gained in order to manufacture the 2000 ton crimper to the customer’s exact requirements.
Hydrapower Dynamics has a capability to provide sales, service, spares, repairs and calibration for all its customers within the UK and Ireland. This has been achieved by means of an entire team of specialised and dedicated sales staff and engineers working solely on Finn-Power machines.
