Thorite refines its selection of sterilisation filter systems (Nov 2011)
UK compressed air products and pneumatic process systems provider, Thorite, has refined its selection of sterilisation filter systems it supplies to the food & beverage process and packaging industries. Compressed air commonly carries a variety of contaminants, including particles, oil aerosols and oil vapour. Allow these contaminants to remain present during food packaging and the result can be a steep reduction in product shelf life.
As a recognised authority on guidance and system supply expertise to the food industry, Thorite reports that it is constantly re-evaluating every aspect of its service. An important part of this process has focused on assessing improved sterilisation systems from leading world-class manufacturers. According to Thorite, the latest technology can now ensure total sterilisation at the point of use; usually by the combination of a desiccant drier with the most suitable filtration system. This is said to achieve the complete removal of any oil traces, plus the capture of a range of microbiological hazards.
The filters are easily cleaned by autoclaving or back-flush steam treatment. These improved standards of compressed air filtration now enable Thorite to provide the food industry with systems compliant with all current food regulation legislation and codes of practice, while maximising food product performance in terms of freshness and visual appeal.
