Parker launches new high performance piston pump for industrial applications (March 2011)
Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has enhanced its range of high performance hydraulic pumps still further with the introduction of a new PV 360 model. The new variable displacement 360 cc/rev piston pump has been developed to meet the needs of a diverse range of heavy duty applications in industrial and related sectors. In particular, the new PV 360 is robust and reliable, for the toughest environments, and offers outstanding levels of performance, working at permanent operating pressures of up to 5,000 psi (350 bar), with the ability to peak at 6,000 psi (420bar).
Featuring a large servo piston for exceptionally fast response, the PV 360 is ideal for use with cranes and lifting equipment, presses, metal forming machines, hydraulic power units (HPUs) and a variety of heavy lift marine applications. The new pump is especially suitable for areas where hydraulic systems may already be subject to high impact forces, as the PV 360 uses Parker’s proven ripple chamber technology, allowing it to produce up to 60% less pressure and flow pulsation than comparable pumps. As a result, this means that lower amplitude sine waves are introduced into the system, thereby reducing operating noise, heat and vibration, and minimising the potential for hydraulic connections to become loose or for damage to occur to downstream components.
In addition, the PV 360 incorporates a number of other innovative features to improve performance, reliability and efficiency. For example, its modular design offers exceptional flexibility, with a wide variety of compensator choices, including standard pressure, remote pressure, load sensing and horsepower and electro-hydraulic pQ options. Pilot valves can also be directly mounted without any piping allowing in-field conversion to be carried out quickly and simply whenever it is needed.
An extensive range of options extends the overall functionality and ease of use of the high performance piston pump still further. These include metric and SAE standard mounting interfaces, and metric or UNC/UNF threads and ports for rapid and straightforward installation. Both maintenance and pump configuration are straightforward and can be carried out using standard tools.
Perhaps most importantly, the PV 360 is 100% through-drive capable and is equipped with an easily accessible displacement adjustment screw. In double unit configurations, both pumps can be used at full flow and nominal pressure at the same time, while multiple pump systems can be built with only one drive motor and the maximum displacement can be adjusted or modified at any time.
