European demand drives investment in energy-efficient air compressors

28 May, 2024

Aggreko has ramped up investment in its highly efficient 100% oil-free air compressors in Europe following increased demand for greener, energy efficient solutions across energy intensive industries.

Expanding the existing fleet of 100% oil-free electric variable speed driven (VSD) compressors, the company will be introducing new Stage V Diesel 100% oil-free units to strengthen its provision of greener compressed air to support the manufacturing, petrochemical, refining and utilities sectors

As energy costs for compressed air continue to account for significant outlay for companies across these sectors, energy efficient solutions that reduce running costs and emissions are now business critical.

Through its growing fleet of solutions, Aggreko will enable more customers across Europe to access the correct equipment level they require that delivers on efficiency and running costs without the capital investment. As part of the company’s Greener Upgrades portfolio, the investment into new Stage V 100% oil-free air compressors this year will also allow customers to comply with the latest emission standards, environmental legal obligations and emits minimum noise.

Adhering to ISO 8573-1 Class 0 – the strictest air quality standard – the compressors are certified to deliver 100% oil-free air. This provides clean, contaminant-free air, essential for industries where air quality directly impacts the final product, such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. With airborne oil susceptible to causing various issues such as product recall or costly downtime. Aggreko’s fleet is able to ensure customers can protect equipment, products, and the safety of employees.

The company is also investing in digitalisation to optimise its growing fleet of 100% oil-free air compressors, including Aggreko Remote Monitoring and Aggreko Connect asset management software. These enable the remote monitoring, data capture and optimisation of the compressed air solution to ensure systems are running at expected efficiency and energy usage is carefully monitored.

Making new, efficient technologies more widely available reinforces Aggreko’s commitment supporting European customers’ energy transition, a key part of its new sustainability framework, Energising Change. As energy intensive industries in Europe look to reduce operating costs and lower emissions, Aggreko has also been investing in its wider Greener Upgrades™ portfolio, including new steam boilers, Stage V generators, battery storage, and chillers.

Russell Brown, Product Manager – Oil Free Air at Aggreko, commented: “Building on our expertise in power and temperature control, we are investing in our fleet of 100% oil-free air compressors to support our customers across Europe with all temporary requirements. As operational costs for many businesses are rising, we are able to support with the provision of clean, efficient compressed air, reducing the need for any capex outlay and the possibility of downtime. For manufacturing, petrochemical refinery and utilities companies reducing their impact on the environment, our growing fleet will not only reduce their energy costs but also support their emission reduction in line with net zero strategies.”
