Gym for Heroes

Sophie Fisher, operations manager of MP Filtri UK, recently organised a charity event, which raised £103,468.00 for the Help for Heroes charity. Throughout the UK and in military gyms worldwide, hundreds of participants have taken part in Gym for Heroes, the largest gym challenge in aid of Help for Heroes. Gym for Heroes is an endurance challenge that can take place in any gym or military facility. The event was cardio based with participants using gym equipment continuously for either 3 or 12 hours – either individually or in a team of 4 or less.
Serving members worldwide took part – from our soldiers serving on the front line in Afghanistan to personnel on aircraft carriers, submarines and warships. RAF personnel and retired servicemen also took up the challenge. Civilians participated, from the pensioner who lost a family member in active combat, to individuals motivated to shape up and raise money for a worthwhile cause in the process. Moving forward, Gym for Heroes 2011 is looking at improving the challenge options to capture an even wider audience.
