Forth invests in workforce with internal Project Management training sessions

22 November, 2022

Engineering company Forth is continuing to invest in upskilling its current workforce to aid professional development. The company, which has bases throughout Cumbria and a global client base, recently held the first instalment of internal Structured Project Management training sessions to improve employees’ capabilities which will ensure clients and customers are receiving the highest standards from the company.

Opportunities

Led by Forth’s operations manager Chris Downham and senior mechanical engineer Rob Sneesby, a total of 10 members of staff participated in the initial training session. Downham says: “What is very important to Forth is that we provide opportunities for our staff to continue to progress their careers and learn new skills, and we are firm believers that we should give something back to our staff for their hard work.

“We encourage our staff to continue their education and learning journey while working, and it is rewarding to see the staff engage in training and developing their skills to the highest level possible. By developing and investing in our workforce, our customers will reap the benefits too as they will be receiving a higher level of service from highly qualified and knowledgeable staff.”

Improving skill sets

During the session, participants were split into two groups and were each given a Request for Quotation on a new product to be developed. The teams were then tasked with managing the project through its entire lifecycle.

The training provided the Forth team with industry-recognised project management tools and techniques, improving their skill sets they can transfer to their daily work with clients.

Sneesby comments: “Everyone had a great day learning new methods and ways of thinking, and it was brilliant to see the team immerse themselves fully in what was being taught. When you have a motivated and inspired team, that translates into a higher level of service for our clients and customers.”
