Atlas Copco introduces next generation of compressed air filters

06 October, 2021

introduced by Atlas Copco. Featuring inPASS technology, Atlas Copco’s air filters are claimed to significantly simplify maintenance and reduce costs while delivering a high level of performance and reliability.

Filtration is a crucial component of a compressed air system. If left untreated, compressed air can be contaminated with substances such as dirt, water, and oil, which can compromise compressed air powered tools, production processes and final products. That is why Atlas Copco offers a complete range of filters that remove even the smallest contaminants – from dust to water and oil vapours.

No need for extra piping

Atlas Copco comments that, until now, servicing a filter involved shutting down the entire compressed air system or installing 3-valve bypasses around every filter. The company’s inPASS re-directs the air through the filter head during maintenance, allowing for safe filter cartridge replacement without interruption of the air flow. This means there is no need to install extra piping around the filters or to halt production for maintenance. As a result, the inPASS saves customers both installation and operational costs by allowing quick, seamless service.

To maximise air quality, Atlas Copco Atlas Copco introduces next generation of compressed air filters has developed specialised filtration methods to take on specific contaminants. This includes a wrapped filter element for wet particles, a pleated element for solid particles and macro-structured activated carbon for oil vapours. Centrifugal filters are also available to remove water droplets from the air flow. As a result, customers have flexibility to choose the best filtration technology for their production environment.

Atlas Copco’s new filters also come with a user-friendly service indicator which displays running hours, differential pressure, and maintenance status. This allows users to maximise the lifespan of their filters and to plan the best time for maintenance. There is also a malfunction alert on the filter head that can be connected to a remote monitoring device.

Crucial element

Andy Lill, business development manager, industrial air at Atlas Copco Compressors UK comments: “Filters are a crucial element to a compressed air system as filtration technology directly impacts reliability and efficiency of a production system. inPASS now allows our customers to service their filters without disrupting air flow, safeguard our customers’ production system and reduce their costs.”
