HYDAC unveils new AC-LN+ series cooler

29 July, 2020

When it comes to temperature management of hydraulic systems, HYDAC has over 50 years’ experience in the design, manufacture and application of heat exchangers to ensure hydraulic system efficiency and maximum service life.

With seven dedicated cooling production plants world-wide, HYDAC offers a range of both catalogue products and bespoke solutions to meet the demanding requirements of industrial, mobile machine, renewable energy and power generation cooling applications. Covering fluid, air, refrigeration systems and cold plate technology – in single or multi-circuit configurations – and supplied as packaged solutions or individual heat exchangers, HYDAC comments that it has all bases covered.

The race for ever greater operational efficiency shows no sign of slowing down when it comes to modern day hydraulic systems. The application of Variable Speed Drives, load-sensing technology and energy storage have all contributed to efficiency success, but design complexity, space envelope or commercial constraints still limit the degree to which these are implemented.

Despite technological advances, the majority of hydraulic systems continue to operate at 70 to 80% efficiency with waste energy being presented as heat; the trend for compact hydraulic systems with reduced system oil volumes only compound this. Although all systems will eventually reach heat balance, the temperatures required to achieve this can be unacceptably high, resulting in premature system failure. Forced Cooling is the solution to this risk and the latest innovation from HYDAC – an established provider of air blast cooling products – believes it will raise the bar with the AC-LN+ series cooler.

The AC-LN+ series is an optimised ‘smart’ design that provides all the merits of HYDAC’s current plate and bar radiator technology, but innovatively packaged. Main advantages of the HYDAC AC-LN+ series cooler include:

• Energy efficient

• Low noise operation

• Lightweight design

• High performances

• C3 corrosion protection as standard

• Short lead time

The ultimate goal of this product introduction is to offer high performance products at the most competitive market price, and within the shortest possible lead-time. 100% aluminium heat exchangers, brazed within HYDAC’s state-of-the-art factories utilise unique designs, patented features and original production processes; a testament to HYDAC’s commitment to world-class manufacturing. These heat exchangers when combined with suitably matched ventilation systems - via a modular housing and fastening system - result in the AC-LN+, a lightweight, compact, low noise solution with high cooling performance.

The AC-LN+ series is initially available in six sizes, able to satisfy cooling capacities of up to 0.87kW/degC. So effectively able to meet the cooling requirements of hydraulic systems of up to approx. 100kW rated power. Alternatively, contact a local sales representative or technical support for further sizing assistance.

Thermal performance measurements were derived from stringent In-house tests performed on fully qualified test rigs, certified by the TUV in accordance to the test norms detailed within EN1048 – the testing of air blast heat exchangers, hence HYDAC guarantees the performance of its products.
