Brammer secures major contract with Scottish & Newcastle

03 April, 2009

Brammer has secured a major new contract with one of the UK’s biggest names in brewing, Scottish & Newcastle. The five-year contract will see Brammer provide a full range of MRO products and services to Scottish & Newcastle’s breweries nationwide, where major brands such as John Smith’s, Fosters and Strongbow are produced.

Brammer will provide a complete full time site-based service solution, supplying products, technical support and a permanent staff presence at four locations – Hereford, Manchester, Reading and Tadcaster, near York – as well as part-time site based services at the Caledonian Brewery in Edinburgh and Dunston, near Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Richard Jeffers, UK engineering manager at Scottish & Newcastle, commented: “Given Scottish & Newcastle’s position as the leading UK brewer, with a multi-million pound spend on engineering spares coupled with the need for high plant availability, it was essential for us to find a partner who really understood the needs of our manufacturing sites.

Clear edge

Jeffers continued: “After looking at the companies operating in the market, we found that Brammer had a clear edge over its competitors. Our decision to move to Brammer was based not just on value for money, but also on the company’s technical expertise and ability to help us to find innovative solutions to our problems. This, combined with a proactive approach to supporting our range of suppliers, made Brammer the ideal choice for us going forward.”

Ian Ritchie, managing director of Brammer UK, added: “We are delighted to have been selected as a business partner by the UK’s largest brewer, Scottish & Newcastle.

“This contract will see us drawing on a wide range of our capabilities to add value to Scottish & Newcastle’s operations, particularly through production efficiency improvements and working capital reduction.”
