Trident Hydraulics expands as part of ambitious growth plans

The new building will enhance the company’s production capabilities with a 5000 sq ft workshop, clean room and 3D printing and modelling design studio. The purchase of extra land and the construction of the new site is in line with Trident Hydraulics’ growth plans. It intends to double its existing 16-strong workforce by 2021, with new technical mechanical engineering personnel being appointed for both its existing and new unit.

Mike Forster, managing director of Trident Hydraulics, commented: “The new building is 6000 ft.² in size, with the opportunity to expand by another 4000 ft.² as we continue to expand our business. In this building, which will become our main offices, we will run our training centre, manufacture our own range of valves in our own valve build room and conduct full system assemblies in our own purpose-built cleanroom. We will now be able to offer customers a full design and build service, which I believe is unique in our industry within the UK. Now, we will be able to provide customers with manifolds and valves, fully tested and certificated guaranteeing their efficacy and levels of cleanliness. They then have the peace of mind that if any of their end-customers have any contamination or operational issues on site our customers can produce the certificate proving the equipment was fully tested prior to dispatch.”

Added features

The new premises benefits from having its own fully secure, locked yard so Trident Hydraulics can undertake all its commercial vehicle work in this area. The site also has a newly installed mezzanine floor for the storage of the company’s ever-expanding range of parts and equipment. Forster added that the new site will house its main reception area and include a separate trade counter complete with a TV screen showing customers what the company can provide in terms of full systems builds etc.

Forster explained that Trident Hydraulics now manufactures its own hydraulic manifolds. Both levels of the company’s existing unit comprise 3000 ft.² and this location now will be used purely for the machining and manufacturing of manifolds. For this purpose, the company has recently purchased new state-of-the-art CNC machinery for this site.

Expanding portfolio

Over the coming months, the new unit will be fitted with robotics for the assembly of components; including hydraulic valves and manifold assemblies. Through this investment, Trident Hydraulics will be in a position to supply a wider range of its own components.

Looking ahead, Trident Hydraulics intends to develop miniature hydraulics components for use in the production of robotics, simulators, ROVs and high-speed machining. The company will also establish a training scheme for future hydraulic engineers across the Warwickshire region.

Argo-Hytos UK distributor appointment

Forster also explained that Trident Hydraulics was recently appointed as the UK distributor for Argo-Hytos, including the company’s extensive range of valves, solenoid systems, power packs, connecting plates and manifolds, pressure switches, hydraulic drives, filtration equipment and sensors.

Trident Hydraulics was founded in 2002 by Mike and Clare Forster and serves large and small business across industries such as manufacturing, automotive, chemical and agricultural.
