SMC’s Total Processing & Packaging debut
SMC Pneumatics, the pneumatics and control system solutions provider, will make its debut appearance at the Total Processing & Packaging Exhibition at the National Exhibition Centre, from 4 to 6 June, on stand J70 in hall 5.
Incorporating Pakex, the PPMA show and Interphex, the Total Processing and Packaging Exhibition covers many sectors of industry, providing manufacturers with an opportunity to investigate new solutions and technologies to enhance their products – all under one roof.
As well as showcasing many of its established pneumatic solutions on the stand – one of the largest in the entire event at over 120m2 – , SMC will also display some products it is less well-known for, including ionizers, heat exchangers, electric actuators, process filtration and clean room equipment.
The last time SMC UK exhibited at a major show, at the PPMA exhibition in 2011, the company’s stand included a first for that event – a production cell assembling real-time customer orders for valve manifolds. This year at Total Processing and Packaging, SMC will raise the bar by showing another live assembly cell, this time manufacturing control systems.
Pete Humphreys, product promotions manager for SMC UK, commented: “By supplying control systems as well as components like FRL, valves and actuators, SMC can provide cost efficiencies for our customers’ businesses by converting some of their fixed costs into variable costs. Control systems can contain combinations of pneumatics, electronics and electrical parts, and whether you want just one panel or to order the same panels again in the future, SMC offers a cost-effective solution and has the capacity for both.”
In 2012, SMC Corporation was voted one of the world’s top 100 most innovative companies for the second consecutive year by business publisher Forbes.
Humphreys continued: “Receiving that accolade for two years running is testament to our constant commitment to providing our customers with the innovative solutions they need to improve their efficiency and profitability. Visitors to our Innovations Centre at our Milton Keynes manufacturing facility frequently tell us we’ve surprised them by showing them products that they had no idea we offer. So at the Total Processing and Packaging Exhibition show, we’ll show some of those products to a wider audience to emphasise that although our core strength is pneumatics, we can provide so much more.”
