Antech Hydraulics delivers a bespoke hydraulic system to the University of Sheffield

29 November, 2017

Lancashire-based Antech Hydraulics has developed and installed a bespoke hydraulic system at the Department of Civil & Structural Engineering within the University of Sheffield. The system comprises of a power pack capable of delivering up to 80 litres per minute and pressures reaching 320 bar.

Andy Newell, managing director at Antech Hydraulics said: “This contract has been designed, manufactured and delivered in a timely manner and will pave the way for future large-scale projects within the UK and beyond.”

The University of Sheffield is this year celebrating 100 years in Civil & Structural Engineering and the new hydraulic ring main that has been installed should give the staff and student engineers many years of service to test materials used in our everyday lives, materials often taken for granted.

Antech Hydraulics makes the point that civil engineering deals with design, construction and maintenance of the world around us; including roads, bridges, canals, dams, buildings, man-made and natural environments. Structural engineers shape the world around us by designing and constructing multi-storey buildings, bridges, sports arenas, tunnels, transport systems, airports and schools. They understand how loads and stresses, gravity, vibrations, the external environment and ground conditions will affect structures, ensuring they are stable and safe.

The hydraulic ring main gives the University the power to test materials to destruction in a controlled manner and in an environment that is repeatable to ensure accurate results.

Antech Hydraulics, founded in 1994, also offers component parts for hydraulic systems such as NTZ filters, UFI Filtration, LJM hydraulic cylinders, Kawaski pumps and Staffa motors.
