New material from SealXpress

26 September, 2017

SealXpress, based in Oldbury, West Midlands, has introduced what it describes as the first polyurethane material that is under 80 shore hardness. U505-P79 combines the positive properties of elastomers with the properties of polyurethanes and is characterised by high flexibility with regard to possible application areas.

SealXpress comments that as the material U505-P79 is a member of the Polyurethane-family, and that the material offers typical advantages such as excellent mechanical properties, a high level of abrasion and chemical resistance, together with excellent sealing properties in the low-pressure range.

SealXpress adds that irregularities of the housing/the counter-surface can also be perfectly balanced with this material. The company also claims that there are almost no diameter limits when the new U505-P79 is used for the preloading element (instead of NBR). Due to the good overall properties of the material, especially wear resistance, SealXpress recommends it as a substitute for NBR in most hydraulic and pneumatic applications.

According to SealXpress, U505-P79 is ideal for static and dynamic applications. It is mostly used for U-cup seals and wipers in pneumatic applications. Because of its high level of hydrolysis resistance, SealXpress points out that it can be used in the most common hydraulic fluids, oil in water emulsions, and also water power applications in various industries.
