New online hydraulics training materials
Barony College has partnered with CDX Automotive to launch a new online Hydraulics course. Barony College is a specialist land-based college based near Dumfries in South West Scotland and is a UK provider of training for service engineers.
Barony has been involved in this specialist field for 40 years and witnessed at first hand the embryonic development of hydraulics systems and technologies on machines. This experience, allied to the close working relationships forged with a number of OEMs, has resulted in an extensive pool of accumulated knowledge on hydraulic systems. This knowledge has been put to good use in the development of the materials, now launched jointly with CDX Automotive.
Australian-based CDX is a provider of interactive training in the automotive industry, and is now part of the US-based Jones and Bartlett Learning organisation.‘CDX: Hydraulics and Fluid Power’ covers all the central concepts of hydraulic systems and service level tasks required of fluid power mechanics across the world. The interactive online experience majors on videos and animations to simplify complex subject matter for working technicians and apprentices throughout a range of industries, including offshore oil platforms, mining, aerospace, marine exploration, agriculture, construction, and forestry.
Drew Easton, Barony’s head of engineering said: “Our people were all from an industry background before entering the world of education, and they have a real focus and a strong desire to pass on the accumulated knowledge they have in their specialist field to all learners. The team have a real affinity to service engineers working in the field and understand the challenges faced in diagnosing faults in systems. They are also in a unique position in that they work with learners of all ages and backgrounds and have a clear understanding of what makes learning material work.”
