Group HES builds 50-year celebration time capsule
Group HES has built a time capsule commemorating the company’s 50-year history. The capsule is not to be opened until 2065 when the company celebrates its 100th anniversary.
Group HES came up with the idea for a time capsule as a way of marking the end of its half-century celebrations and leaving something for colleagues of the future.
Included in the capsule is a video featuring many members of staff from all four branches of the company, talking about why the company is an enjoyable place to work and what they think the company will look like in 50 years’ time.
The company has put the information on a USB stick (hoping the technology will still be accessible in the distant future). Also included is some company and supplier literature to give future colleagues an impression of Group HES as it is today, as well as a few modern day artefacts such as mobile phones and food wrappers to give future staff an idea of how technology, branding etc. looked 50 years prior to their arrival at the company.
Additionally, Group HES has included a set of 2015 coins and recently released stamps marking the Queen's 90th Birthday – including one of Prince George who may well be King when the time capsule is next opened.
Group HES has also included photos depicting the company today and throughout its history.
The company reports that it spent a lot of time researching and investing in correct storage procedures and archiving materials to minimise the chance that the items could suffer damage over a 50-year timeframe. With this in mind, it has used an electrical box that has been sealed shut with silicon sealant.
