Beaumanor takes the high jump for charity

03 August, 2016

Beaumanor’s managing director, Adrian McGreevy, and finance administrator, Charlotte Cooper, will each be making a tandem parachute jump this August. The jump is in aid of Beaumanor’s chosen charity, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.

The jump at 13,000 feet will take place at the Sibson Airfield in Peterborough on 16 August. Beaumanor welcomes any donations, which can be made through Charlotte’s Just Giving Page: justgiving.com/Charlotte-Cooper SkydiveAugust16.

Adrian McGreevy said: “Beaumanor have been raising money for Rainbows for nearly 15 years. My sister Adele ran the marathon in 2015 and raised £3163.75. I’d very much like to double that, even if I need to throw myself out of a plane to do it.”

On the day they will receive a short briefing that takes only 20 minutes. Adrian and Charlotte will then board the plane for their ascent of about 15 minutes. Soaring to approximately two miles high, they will make the big jump into the blue, falling at about 120mph, and descending to 5000 feet in around 40 seconds. It is at that point their instructors will open their parachutes allowing them to fly safely back to earth.

Positive

Charlotte, who has two children under six years old, has wasted no time in booking the date for the jump. “It’s a great opportunity for me to achieve something I’ve always wanted to do; I’m nervous but can’t wait for the adrenaline rush.” She continued: I’m so pleased to be able to do something that will help Rainbows and the families that attend. Adrian and I visited the hospice in Leicester last year; the facilities and staff are fantastic. I was especially moved to see how happy and positive the children are, despite their illnesses.”

 Support

Victoria Bourgault, marketing manager at Beaumanor, said: “Adrian and Charlotte, very much hope Hydraulics & Pneumatics readers will support them donating as much as you can.” She added, lightheartedly: “We did consider auctioning off the opportunity of pushing Adrian out of the plane but worried the response would be too overwhelming.”
