Eaton and A.E. Petsche get on track with combined solution
Eaton has appointed A.E. Petsche, a division of Arrow Electronics, Inc., as its specialised partner for a full range of power management technologies for rolling stock applications including customised and standard power converters, hydraulic-magnetic circuit breakers and smart fuses.
The provision of Eaton’s high-reliability standard and bespoke electrical products will improve rolling stock safety, reduce maintenance down time, and lower energy consumption.
Delphine Clement, Rail Segment Manager at Eaton, said: “The reasons for this partnership become clear when you consider the combined offering that Eaton and A.E. Petsche can offer the rolling stock industry.
As part of Arrow they have a certain size and reach which matches Eaton’s global approach and, vitally, they have strong technical expertise to fully support the technical challenges of our customers in the rail industry. They are a known player in the industry and therefore our collaboration will deliver great benefits to customers both existing and new.”
[subhead] Better and safer trains
With a focus on building better and safer trains, the appointment of A.E. Petsche allows customers to access a broad range of Eaton products and solutions, fully supported by Eaton experts.
In the past rolling stock customers were limited to Heinemann series hydraulic-magnetic circuit breakers in the UK. A.E. Petsche’s wider technical proficiency now allows products like Bussmann series fuses and standard Martek Power series power converters to be specified or customised.
[subhead] Reduced total cost of ownership
“Our partnership with Eaton is already leading to strong sales in the UK rolling stock market,” said Geraint Davies, business development manager at A.E. Petsche. “The arrangement allows us to specify and engineer a range of technologies that provide our customers with a reduced total cost of ownership.
“The expertise and innovation, combined with the application engineering experience that Eaton provides, enables us to provide our customers with high quality – and even bespoke solutions - to their problems. Whether customised and standard power converters for a large scope of applications on rolling stock and signalisation or hydraulic-magnetic circuit breakers that eliminate nuisance tripping caused by vibrations or fuses that provide high interrupting speed and low energy let-through, A.E. Petsche alongside Eaton can handle the entire lifespan of a project from design to delivery to service.”
Eaton and A.E. Petsche will work together in the UK and the expectation is that this will expand to larger territories like Germany and Eastern Europe during 2016.
