New monitor/recorder for industrial condition monitoring now available from Ixthus
The recently announced Datawatch IX monitor/recorder from Metrix Instrument Co., the USA-based condition monitoring systems specialist, is available in the UK from Ixthus Instrumentation Ltd.
The 3.5 inch colour TFT display offers clear visualisation of vibration, acceleration and other process parameters through four or eight universal inputs with fully configurable views plus alarm, shutdown and data recording/storage capability. In addition the panel-mount device offers communication with PLC, SCADA, DCS or remote terminals over its integral Modbus TCP/IP port and is also capable of handling 30 virtual channels that can be used to view Modbus inputs, maths, counter and other values within the instrument.
Aimed at proactive machinery protection for pumps, compressors and large rotating equipment etc., the competitively priced Datawatch IX is particularly advantageous where there is a need to conveniently add permanent condition monitoring to existing plant. The device displays horizontal and vertical trends or bar graphs, numeric information and alarm panel and status. Configuration can be via USB or EtherNet, or from the front panel without the need for PC connection using four navigation pushbuttons. Helping to reduce engineering and commissioning times, configurations can be stored, modified off line and/or cloned for use in other instruments. A 50Mb on-board flash memory provides internal recording functionality in addition to storage via removable USB stick or automatic data transfer via Ethernet communications.
The freely configurable input mix includes DC volts and current as well as thermocouple and digital contact closure types. Two digital and two relay outputs are also provided.
The Metrix Datawatch IX also features its ‘Store & Forward’ self-healing, validated archiving system that automatically stores data in the measuring device during a communications failure and then forwards this when communications have been reinstated. This results in secure electronic recording with total data integrity.
