    Fluid Power Manager – Job Description

     

    Role summary

    • To manage the continued growth of the Fluid Power function within AFC in line with agreed company objectives. 
    • To lead the continuing integration of fluid power products into the company culture to ensure they are viewed as core products by all departments and branches.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    Working to the Technical Services Manager at part of the Tech Team, the Fluid Power Manager has the opportunity to plan his/her day to day work within the parameters set out below:

    Management of the Fluid Power function 

    • To lead, motivate and develop a strong Fluid Power offering to the business in accordance with agreed company objectives
    • To provide regular key updates on the performance of Fluid Power
    • To formulate and monitor a business plan, detailing targets for each branch and areas of investment required

    Customers

    • To support AFC branches, generating increased customer and colleague awareness of AFC Fluid Power capabilities.
    • To develop increased sales and enquiries within the product range.
    • To devise strategies that ensure that every customer in AFC is aware of the Fluid Power product range supplied
    • To target a number of customer visits each month, either alone or in conjunction with AFC branch, Customer Account Managers and Branch Managers
    • To record all calls in Profit Plus through the Sales Vision App on the company iPads
    • To make full use of google calendars, sharing with Managing Director, Sales Directors and Tech Team Manager

    Suppliers

     To establish a business development plan with key Fluid Power supply partners.

    • To work alongside the Technical Services Manager to negotiate commercial terms including targets, discounts, rebates, carriage arrangements, training and payment terms.
    • To facilitate regular review meetings with key supply partners and communicate findings, actions and opportunities to the Technical Services Manager.
    • To make recommendations to the senior management team for any additions to key supply partnerships via the Technical Services Manager and Sales & Marketing Committee meetings.

    Colleagues

    • To develop fluid power knowledge levels in other AFC staff to an industry leading level.
    • To work with the Human Resources Team to design and deliver an appropriate training plan to achieve the knowledge building.

    Other duties

     To travel regularly throughout the UK, including overnight stays

    • To attend company events, as required
    • To undertake all work in accordance with company standards including ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001

    Experience, skills and attributes needed

    • Knowledge of a broad spectrum of Fluid Power products
    • Good understanding of engineering and its environment
    • Sales experience across all levels and with an excellent level of commercial awareness
    • High level of confidence, self-motivation, enthusiasm and self-discipline
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to drive with a clean driving license
    • Willingness to work across the UK, including overnight stays
